The new 2019 Chevy Silverado is a beast of a truck that the team over at General Motors decided to bring to the market. However, on first blushes they may have held something back in terms of styling, opting to go with a more ‘evolution’ versus ‘revolution approach.
The General did bring some umph with a new spin on its traditional V 6 engine that sees it come with a two point seven litre turbo and a diesel driven six cylinder, but it also didn’t forget about the brawnier V8s that come in the usual five point three and six point two litre versions. The big boy V8 with the 6.2 litres is exactly that, for the big boys as this will be the biggest engine in the half ton segment.
With these kind of stats, the 2019 Silverado will own the category by pushing out over four hundred and twenty horses with about four hundred and sixty pounds per foot of torque which will put Ford, Ram, Toyota and Nissan squarely in its rearview mirror when it comes to might. What might also surprise you is that the new 2109 Chevy Silverado not only comes with brute strength, but also some zippiness.
The all wheel drive version, with a crew cab, can get you from zero to sixty in under five and half seconds which, literally, leaves the others in the dust and can get you to the quarter mile in under fourteen seconds at around one hundred miles an hour.
The interior is pretty much what you’d expect from a workman’s truck, nothing too flashy, but sturdy and functional. Lots of storage from the bigger and wider centre console to the under seat stowage compartments – it even has one that can charge up your phone. There’s the now common infotainment system with touch screen to give it an air of currency for the 21st century.
Probably the best part of the brand new 2019 Chevy Silverado is that you’ll be able to get into it for under $30k, which is pretty darn reasonable for a truck that can deliver when needed.
