2017 Automotive Horror Show: The Worst of the Worst

While most automakers know how to create an appealing vehicle, they all occasionally release a model that falls far from the mark. So far from the mark that they evoke spine-tingling horror in the hearts of automotive reviewers.  We’re kidding, really, but that doesn’t mean we won’t shudder when we see these ugly vehicles. Mixed in with all the practical and stylish vehicles, you will find a range of weak, ugly, or unusual models. Obviously, style can be very subjective, but we’ve drawn up a list of our personal automotive horror show. Here are the worst of the bunch that appeared in 2017.

Citroen C4 Cactus

Most car buyers will definitely agree that the Citroen C4 Cactus is an ugly vehicle, even if its crossover body and features make it a practical pick. The side panels may have seemed like a clever way to set the model apart from the crowd at the concept stage. However, they just make it look odd and ill-proportioned, especially with the large air bumps on them. From a distance, they almost resemble Legos. Really, the Cactus looks like a homely kid’s toy, not a production vehicle.

To make it stand out even more, and not necessarily in a good way, there are numerous color combinations, including eleven body colors and four shades for the air bumps. The interior of the C4 Cactus is also unusual in numerous ways, from the passenger airbag being mounted to the roof to the front bench seat you get if you opt for an automatic transmission. The French tried to make the C4 Cactus look cool and futuristic, but fell short of their goal.
